Justice Dipak Misra was on Tuesday named as the 45th Chief Justice of India, succeeding JS Khehar on August 18. If he completes his term, Justice Misra will have a term of about 14 months, which will make him the 9th Chief Justice among the last 11 to have a term of less than 2 years—the minimum tenure recommended by the Law Commission.
