The mobile may have overtaken the pager, but England’s National Health Service is still deploying around 130,000 pagers, at an annual cost of £6.6 million, according to digital solutions company CommonTime. Across the various kinds of NHS trusts, only a small minority are not using pagers. Replacing these 130,000 pagers with mobile software can save the NHS £2.7 million a year, the report said.
