The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved the revision of cost norms for supplementary nutrition provided at ‘anganwadi’ centres (rural centres for mother and child care) and for adolescent girls (aged 11-14) who are out of school. This would impact 11 crore beneficiaries and will cost the government about Rs 12,000 crore between 2017-18 and 2019-20.
