Southwest monsoon rainfall deficit at 6%, unevenly spread

The rainfall deficit during the southwest monsoon, between June and September, was 6%, as per the latest data by the India Meteorological Department. It had forecast a normal monsoon that would be fairly distributed. Latest data shows that 23 states had normal rainfall, seven showed a deficit, while five had excess rainfall and one had ‘large excess’ rainfall.
