Indian ports post 3.24% cargo growth in first half

India’s 12 major ports together handled 326.4 million tonnes of cargo in the first six months of 2017-18, a growth of 3.24% over the 316.1 million tonnes in the first half of 2016-17. Seven major ports posted higher numbers. Petroleum, oil and lubricants led the cargo basket (share of 34%), followed by containers, and thermal and steam coal.
